Recipes using Essential Oils
 

Pre Menstrual Tension

Approxiamately 40% of women suffer from PMS, with the use of these oils, symptoms could be relieved all together, it is important to get the right blend that suits you, but some good examples are listed below that have proven successful for other women in the past.

Good PMS oils include Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Rose Maroc, Fennel, Clary Sage, Geranium, Bergamot, Nutmeg, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Chamomile Blue and Chamomile Roman.
Try some of these ideas by massaging in to your abdomen, lower back and hips, or by adding 7-9 drops of the blend into your bath water once full.

Violent/Aggressive

Blend together 30ml Almond Oil, 10 drops each of Palmarosa, Bergamot and Geranium oil.

Weeping/Depression

Blend together 30ml Almond Oil, 9 drops Rose Maroc oil, 12 drops Cary Sage oil and 9 drops Bergamot oil.

Irritable/Disaggreeable

Blend together 30ml Almond Oil, 10 drops Nutmeg oil, 5 drops Geranium oil and 15 drops Bergamot oil.

Apathetic/Tired/Listless

Blend together 30ml Almond Oil, 10 drops Clary Sage oil, 18 drops Grapefruit oil and 2 drops Chamomile Roman.

Dysmenorrhoea (Painful Periods)

Painful period range from a dull ache to violent cramping pains that cause you to double up. These fall into two categories congestive dysmenorrhoea starts a few days before your period is due and the pain can cover the whole abdominal area, whilst Spasmodic dysmenorrhoea which send spasms of pain in the pelvis and lower back.

Which ever you suffer avoid constipation at all times, colonic irrigation is one option to consider if this is a problem.

Cogestive Dysmenorrhoea

Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 10 drops Chamomile Romanoil, 5 drops Clary Sage oil and 15 drops of Thyme. Use as a massage oil rubbing over the abdomen and lower back area plus shoulders, do this daily throughout your whole period.

In addition choose one of the following oils to add to two baths during your period spread two days apart, (you can have a normal bath between the oil baths) add 4 drops of just one of the following oils or make a mixture to the equivelent of 4 drops:
Geranium, Neroli, Palmarosa and Clary Sage.

Spasmodic Dysmenorrhoea

Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 5 drops Lavender oil, 10 drops Peppermint oil, 10 drops Nutmeg oil and 5 drops Cypress oil.
Use as a massage oil rubbing over the abdomen and lower back area plus shoulders, do this daily throughout your whole period.

In addition choose one of the following oils to add to two baths during your period spread two days apart, (you can have a normal bath between the oil baths) add 4 drops of just one of the following oils or make a mixture to the equivelent of 4 drops:
Geranium, Neroli, Palmarosa and Clary Sage.

Menorrhagia (Heavy Periods)

If you suffer from heavy bleeding, or clotting then you should see a doctor before attempting to self treat, once it has been established that there is no under lying cause and that you simply suffer from menorrhagia then you can try the following treatments.

Bath

Blend together in a bottle equal amounts of Geranium oil and Lemon oil, add 7-9 drops to your daily bath.

Massage oil

Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 10 drops each of Chamomile Roman, Geranium and Lemon oil, massage over your abdomen and lower back daily.

Amenorrhoea (Loss of Periods)

Sometimes Periods stop for what appears to be no reason, usually stress related though affected by physical and emotion upset. Usually once the stress has lifted the periods return but oils can help to speed this process up, of course the usual reason for missing periods is pregnancy and this should first be eliminated as being the cause.

Abdominal Massage


Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 4 drops Yarrow oil, 15 drops Chamomile Roman and 11 drops Geranium, massage over the abdomen and lower back everyday for at least 2 weeks.

Bath Treatment

Add 6-8 drops of either Clary Sage Geranium or Fennel to a bath of hot water and a bowl of cold water.

Lower yourself in to each alternately staying in the hot for 10 minutes at a time and the cold 5 minutes at a time, in total 45 minutes for the entire treatment.

Menopause

The menopause is approached with dread by some women, it holds symptoms that some women find very difficult to deal with, the advantage is of course that there are no more monthly periods, bringing with them PMS and contraception is no longer a problem, you can make love without the fear of pregnancy and the inconvenience of that time of the month is forgotten.

For the symptoms of menopause you can help yourself with the remedies suggested below, and don't forget it won't last forever it is simply your body adjusting to it's new hormonal balance.

Hot Flushes

Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 10 drops Clary Sage, 11 drops Geranium oil and 7 drops Lemon oil.
Massage all over the body.

Alternatively blend 100 drops Clary Sage oil, 110 drops Geranium oil and 70 drops of Lemon oil in a small bottle, shake well, add 5 drops of this to every bath

Day and Night Sweats

Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 10 drops Grapefruit oil, 10 drops Lime oil, 5 drops Clary Sage oil and 5 drops of Thyme oil. Massage over the whole body.

Alternatively blend 100 drops Grapefruit oil, 100 drops Lime oil, 50 drops Clary Sage oil and 50 drops of Thyme oil in a small bottle, shake well, add 5 drops to every bath.

Water Retention/Bloating

Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 5 drops Fennel oil, 5 drops Juniper oil, 15 drops Lemon oil and 5 drops Peppermint oil. Massage over the abdomen and lower back daily.

Alternatively blend 50 drops Fennel oil, 50 drops Juniper oil, 150 drops Lemon oil and 50 drops Peppermint oil in a small bottle and use 5 drops in your bath daily.

Circulatory Problems

Blend together 30ml Almond oil, 10 drops Geranium oil, 5 drops peppermint oil, 10 drops Rose Maroc oil and 5 drops Patchouli oil. Massage daily, always in the direction of the heart, if it is the legs then massage up from feet to thighs, the arms massage from fingers to shoulders ect.

Alternatively blend 100 drops Geranium oil, 50 drops peppermint oil, 100 drops Rose Maroc oil and 50 drops Patchouli oil into a small bottle and shake well, add 5 drops of this blend to your daily bath.
